Established in July 1977, The British Motorsport Trust was first registered as a UK Charity and has continued to serve the British motorsport ever since through a variety of safety and training-related initiatives by means of a series of grant aid programmes.
The guiding principle of the Trust is to target these grants towards the needs of the sport. All grants are reviewed every year to ensure they remain relevant and enable real progress in helping the rollout of safety programmes and in equipping our community with the training they require.
In 2022, Trustees agreed unanimously to adopt a new working title – the British Motorsport Trust – as part of the organisation’s journey to reach out to the wide spectrum of the British motorsport community. Our organisation consists of eight trustees who represent the very top of British motorsport across multiple professions. Trustees meet once a quarter to assess the latest priorities for the Trust, with Allan Dean-Lewis MBE and Craig Murray acting as General Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

TRUSTEES
Chair of the British Motorsport Trust and past board member of Motorsport UK and Chairman of the FIA Historic Committee.
A Motorsport UK Steward and Clerk of the Course as well as a Committee Member of Trackrod Motor Club, British Trial and Rally Drivers Association (BTRDA) and the Association of Northern Car Clubs (ANCC).
Rod is an Independent Business Consultant and restaurant owner.
Chief Executive Officer of Motorsport UK since November 2018. Previously Chief Commercial Officer at World Sailing, Team Sky and the British Olympic Association during London 2012.
Hugh is the former Commercial Director of BAR Honda F1 Team and for ten years was a partner in motorsport engineering firm Prodrive.
He has held further roles in global advertising agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Y&R and Hill & Knowlton.
Retired Bank Manager involved in Motorsport as a Competitor and Licensed Official since the 1970’s. Trustee of the British Motorsport Trust since 2006 and currently Chair of Motorsport UK Rallies Committee, Vice-Chair of Motor Sports Council and a non-executive director of Motorsport UK Board.
Managing Director and owner of Lifeline Fire & Safety Systems Ltd, the global leading manufacturer of Fire & Safety Equipment for competition vehicles and competitors. A Current Committee Member and past Chairman of the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) as well as a keen competitor in historic motorsport.
Dominic has worked in motorsport administration for the majority of his career, holding roles as Competitions Director of the BRSCC and Secretary of the Motorsport Safety Fund.
Supported circuit racing, rallying and cross country events as a doctor since 1995, and has been Chief Medical Officer for Wales Rally GB and Tour of Mull. A full-time member of the TOCA safety team and has supported the British Grand Prix, World Rallycross and World Endurance Championship. Expertise in training clinicians to perform effectively in high-stakes environments, particularly using immersive simulation and maximising the impact of the training opportunities that are supported by the Trust.
An international sports and entertainment executive with 17 years of industry experience across both the public and private sector. Former Chief Communications Officer at Formula E racing and founder of talent agency, Good Vibes Only. An Oxford University graduate, Katie has worked for global organisations such as Volkswagen, BP, and the British Council.
Appointed a Trustee as Chair of the Motorsport UK Regional Committee formed by the 14 UK Regional Associations who are responsible for supporting their member clubs, through training and promotion of the sport to enable participation in a safe, fair, fun, inclusive and progressive environment. As an experienced competitor, organiser, official and volunteer Phil recognises the sport needs support in a way that only the British Motorsport Trust can provide.
OFFICIALS
Secretary to the Trustees since 2001, a post he held until being appointed General Secretary in 2015 having held the Volunteer Officials Training portfolio whilst in full time employment at Motorsport UK between 1998 and 2015. A founding member (and later Vice President) of the FIA Volunteer Officials Commission and a founder Executive Committee member of the FIA Institute, directly involved in promoting the training of volunteer officials worldwide for over 13 years.
Appointed as the Trust's Treasurer in March 2021. A qualified accounted having started his career with EY, gaining broad experience from bookkeeping and accounts preparation through to auditing a wide range of private limited companies, subsidiaries of international groups as well as FTSE100 PLC's and large Pension schemes. Since leaving EY, has held several senior finance roles at companies including Prodrive, Charles Wells and Topgolf. Currently the Finance Director at Motorsport UK.
